Richard Emert Car Show and Cruise
July 13 @ 9:00 am EDT
Residents and car enthusiasts in Somerset, PA, have an engaging event to look forward to this summer. On July 13th, 2024, D&B Auto Sales is hosting a car show with a noble cause. In case of inclement weather, the event has a scheduled rain date on July 14th. This gathering isn’t just about showcasing shiny classic and modern cars but also serves a humanitarian effort, with all of the proceeds benefiting the National Veterans Foundation (NVF.org), an organization dedicated to assisting veterans in various capacities. For those unfamiliar with the NVF, it’s worth noting that the foundation has been a beacon of hope for veterans in crisis. Through their services, they provide a live voice hotline for veterans grappling with PTSD, aid for disabled veterans who face financial hardships, support for female veterans with post-combat challenges, guidance on navigating claims with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and outreach programs for homeless veterans. Remembering Richard W. Emert, Jr., affectionately known as Pappy, is a poignant part of the event. A Vietnam Veteran who also served his community as an EMT and motorcycle safety instructor, Emert’s legacy continues to inspire the car show. His involvement in the American Legion and the Vietnam Veterans of America, along with his devotion to presenting his cherished 2002 Ford Thunderbird at car shows, exemplifies the community spirit this event aims to foster. If you wish to contribute more than your presence, the event offers various donation options. A $15 donation reserves a spot to exhibit your vehicle and comes with a gift bag and free lunch. Businesses can opt for the $25 donation, which puts an ad in the event flyer and book, complete with a logo and a company description. Alternatively, for $50, businesses receive the advertising benefits plus a 12’x12′ vendor spot at the event, with vehicle sales vendors granted one display spot for a vehicle (additional spots are available at $10 each). Make sure to pre-register for the event through the Facebook page if you plan to participate. The event space accommodates roughly 75 vehicles and 10 vendor spots. All donors and participants will receive a receipt for their gifts. The car show isn’t just about sitting back and admiring the cars; there will also be a friendly competition with attendees voting for “Best of Show,” where the top three vehicles will receive recognition. The event promises a casual, community-oriented atmosphere with burgers and hotdogs on the grill throughout the day. Refreshments will be available for purchase, and the DJ known as Emcee Maple City Mad Man will provide the soundtrack to the day’s festivities. This local event offers an excellent opportunity for car lovers to indulge in their passion while supporting veterans who have served their country. The day promises to be a relaxed, enjoyable time for a great cause, so consider adding it to your summer plans.
