Frequently Asked Questions
How long has American Collectors Insurance been in business?
We’ve been in business since 1976, and we’re still growing – and innovating – to maintain our excellent reputation in the collector car hobby and the insurance industry.
What type of vehicles qualify for collector vehicle coverage?
American Collectors Insurance protects a various array of antique and classic cars, trucks, motorcycles including but not limited to muscle cars, customs, street rods, replicas, antique fire trucks, military jeeps and even antique tractors!
Why is Agreed Value insurance coverage so important?
One of the most important distinctions between an Agreed Value policy compared to standard auto insurance is you and the insurer agreed on the value of your collector vehicle before a claim occurs. As a result, in the case of a total loss / theft, the insured (you) will receive a check for the full Agreed Value of your collector vehicle, less any applicable deductibles.
An Agreed Value policy is especially for classic and collectible vehicles that are unique, infrequently driven and/or appreciating in value. The market value of collector vehicles tend to be either stable or appreciating in value over time compared to depreciating values of daily-driven vehicles. Collector cars tend to be worth more than its daily-driven counterpart for several reasons, including limited driving/usage, better overall vehicle condition, and additional investments of time and money by the owner to restore/enhance the vehicle.
How many miles per year may I drive my collector vehicle?
We offer flexible mileage options to fit your collector lifestyle. While most collectors opt for the 2,500 mileage tier, we offer a variety of mileage tiers up to and including an Unlimited pleasure use mileage tier. For further information and to select the plan that best suits your needs, please contact us at 1-866-730-0395.
Do I qualify for collector car insurance? Does my vehicle qualify?
To qualify for classic car insurance, the collector must have a valid driver’s license, be at least 26 years of age or have a minimum of 6 years driving experience and must have a separate vehicle as a daily driver. For additional qualifications, please contact our Collector Specialist at [email protected], 1-866-730-0395, or get a quick quote.
